October Newsletter

OCTOBER 2017

  • Upcoming Events:
    • October Workshop will be a continuation of the Double Wedding Ring Quilt taught by Frances Thomason.  Workshop begins at 9:30.  If you are participating, please bring your supplies from previous workshops.
    • October Program will be Quilt Trivia.  Bring your Trivia Brains!
    • Begin saving two inch squares for a game that will be played in 2018.
    • Ft Mitchell History Day will be in April 2018.  Linda Walker, Linda Hayes, and Carol Bradshaw will be talking further about the quilting demonstrations and quilt show to be held in conjunction.  There is a proposal to hold our meeting at Ft Mitchell that day.
    • March 2018 will bring Nancy Mahoney to our Guild.  More information will come later.
  • September Workshop:  Thirteen are participating in the Double Wedding Ring Quilt taught by Frances Thomason.
  • President’s Challenge for 2017: Continue to work on the charity quilts that will be donated to local police departments to be given to children in crisis.  Bring any charity tops that have been completed.  We have folks who can quilt them.  It would be great to have quilts brought in periodically instead of having tons of unquilted tops at the end of the year.  Remember: “Finished is better than perfect.”
  • Block of the Month resumed in September with the Pineapple Block.
  • September winners:  Donna Daniels – Name Tag – Can of 606; Rebecca Chester – Tool of the Month – Lint Roller; Martha Brandt – Tool of the Month – Insulbrite Batting.
  • President’s Quilt for Rebecca Chester.  Instructions and fabric for the white strip were distributed.  Guild Members provide nine different strips to go with the white.  These are due in November.
  • Quilts are needed for the library.  If you can bring one small quilt or medium quilt, please bring to any meeting for Linda Walker and she will take them to be hung.oct 17
